lush fruited style, had a bit of a coconut sweetness as well. also quite tannic. enjoyable and per ChefD even better the next day. I preferred the '01 consumed a year ago.

Great brick color out of the bottle. Took about an hour for the wine to open. The fruit and tannins were smooth and blended. The finish was long and dry. Tons of cherry and herbs. Great Barolo

a beautiful fruit forward barolo from one of the great modernist producers. The wine opens with a huge nose of rose, dried cherries, raspberries, and crushed flowers. The nose on this wine is so wonderful it's almost worth buying for the nose alone! This is a fruit forward wine with soft tannins and very nicely integrated oak. On the palate, nuances of dried cherries, red berry, licorice, and subtle earth and leather meld to form a seamless and well balanced Barolo. Over time, balsamic notes develop adding to the layers of fruit and the long wonderful finish. An amazing Barolo that paired perfectly with white truffles and pasta and an assorted cheese plate (all from Piedmonte). the talents of the winemaker, Guiseppi Albertino, are on display here once again. He remains a largely unheralded winemaker but his efforts with these Baroli stand him next to the giants of the Piedmonte!

Big, dark brooding wine. Nose of well oiled leather and sandlewood. Full body, dark fruit with 30 second finish. Still some tannins. Still has life left. Beautiful hints of cassis and dusty violet on finish. Very, very nice.
