  • 2 very consistent bottles both opened and left to rest for a good hour.
On open the wine has a cote rotie edge, smoky, roast meat on the nose which we guess is the style of the wine maker and across their wines we detect a bit more use of charred barrels. Not sure its needed at the level of Amoureuses but still no complaints here.
The wine followed the Clos St Denis 2009 ( Papies 95) and was the natural baton taker. Ripe, good rich feel, smoky edge, red fruited but the barrel use adds a darker edge to it. Nice powerful edge, lots of depth of flavor here and albeit at the start of its journey a fantastic wine nonetheless. 96

Kompleksiteten uteblir. Er der nok om fem til ti år. Lovende vin.

  • Tasted blind: Young, Medium red, ruby hints. Oak and much fruit and perfume on the nose. Very good fruit, some savoury and long finish. I guessed a 2009 Volnay.

  • 2009 Burgundy Dinner with Robert Panzer (Boka - Chicago IL): Open 4 hours before serving, decanted 2 hours. Great spice on nose with lots of red cherry and strawberry. Ripe red and black cherry comes through on palate with great sweet brown spice. Absolutely beautiful already, with great power and length, even if not showing classic Chambolle character to me tonight. But that's the nature of the vintage and I'm optimistic it will emerge over time. If that elegance and lacy texture emerges, this will be a 95+ point wine.

  • From barrel: hint of white pepper or stem. Dark, compelling and complex nose. Terrific concentration of fruit. Silky.
