  • Decanted and consumed over several hours in a Grassl Cru. In neck fill and a long cork in excellent condition. Ready to go from the beginning with some improvement about an hour or so in the decanter. Nose is not terribly expressive - some earth and chocolate. On the palate it shows high acid and a good deal of tertiary character - very faint cherry, orange, leather. Back end is quite drying with some bitter chocolate. Ok value from WineBid at $47, but overall kind of boring.

  • Deep garnet color. Vibrant red berries, leather, and truffle on the nose. Medium-plus body, medium-to-medium-plus acid, and strong tannins. Dark red fruit on the palate, with dark cherries and mushrooms. Enjoyed this so much that I forgot to take many notes. Paired with a white truffle risotto.

  • This is what good, aged barolo is all about. Hands down just wonderful right out the gate, and I wish I had a lot more.

  • Stunning wine. Perfect balance. Best ever Barolo I have drunk. Decanted 2hr, then back in bottle.

  • Opened 9 hours before drinking with slow oxidation. No decanting. Cinchona bark, cherry liqueur, spices and aromatic red fruits on the enjoyable nose. On the palate dusty tannins, red fruits (cherries), cherry liqueur, espresso, chocolate, spices, ... quite a bit of alcohol, but certainly singing after some air. While modern in style, this has good balance. But it needs extended airing, or additional bottle age. Might merit a higher score.
