  • Very nice. Aging well. Still has some fruit and can take a few more years.

  • We decanted the wine for 30 minutes before we had the first glasses, poured it back into the bottle after about two hours and followed its development over a couple of days. The wine was dark ruby in colour and threw some sediment. It offered red fruit, cherry, blackberry, cassis, mocha, spices, vanilla and star anise on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, cherry, blackberry, cassis, blood orange, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and some tobacco, with medium to medium-plus acidity, slightly coarse and drying tannin, moderate heat from the alcohol and good length. The medium- to full-bodied, generously oaked, reasonably balanced wine benefited from aeration, but tasted bitter. A little disappointing.

  • Prunes and darksh fruits on the nose. On the palate it's got decent balance with tannins having rounded out since last tasting. Had this blind against a Pichon Baron 2006 and a De la Rivière (Fronsac) 2004. Two tasters out of 5 prefered the Valpiedra. A question of personal taste. I find the QPR is average although the bottle is still showing quite well and could be kept a little more. Not sure that will do it any good...
