Grandes Pagos de España Tasting. 90% Tempranillo, 6% Graciano and 4% Maturana Tinta. Aged 24 mos. in new French oak. Deep garnet. Pronounced nose of black fruit, dried red fruit, leather, licorice, vanilla, with very elegant oak-driven spice. Dry, with med acidity, med tannins and high alcohol (14% but seems lower). The palate is rich, creamy, consistent with the nose, and really well balanced. Med (+) flavor intensity and length. A classic Rioja reserve, it is drinking really well at 9 years, and should continue to show well for many more. Great QPR.
