Grand Crus > 20 years CT gathering at IT-SPDP. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, yellow gold colour. Thin legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of sweet gum, lots of stony minerality, light petroleum. Developed. On the palate, medium sweet, zesty high acidity, low alcohol (7.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet apple, honeydew melon, sweet gum, lots of stony minerality. Long finish. AP01. Very good quality. Nice Auslese with balanced sweetness and you can feel the Mosel delicacy. Drinking in a good place already.

Grand Crus > 20 years: AP 01. Nose had sponti funk, the acid and green fruit dominated at first but the sweetness eventually came through. Not familiar with this producer but wouldn’t be rushing to seek it out based on this showing.

Nose here knocked me out: full sponti/petrol. Balance is impeccable. Gulpable. Walks a line of round sweetness that buffers spicy food, but not at all ponderous. Not showing age. Wonderful.

Dinner at La T (La Trompette, London): Blind, pale to mid straw. Lovely nose, fine, nicely lifted and really quite precise. Similar on the palate, sweet, but balanced by good acidity and the whole thing sitting on a very light frame. Elegant and willowy. Lovely. ****

AP03. Orange zest, lime and tropical fruit with a saffron like dullness on the nose. Full bodied reminiscent of the sweetness it once had thought its now just sweeter than off dry and with elegant acidity. I too had it with spicy green curry which was a fine pairing. Doesn’t give me the impression it will get better. Excellent mature Auslese.
