Not quite as inky and dark as some syrahs, but a lovely color nonetheless. Dark fruit, but not identifiable to anything in particular. Very bold nose. Transitions to a lot of oak. A little pepper heat right after I opened it, but that muted in half an hour. Good with bold foods--there's not much subtle about this wine. Great value! Solid B+ given the price.

Big, bold, assertive Syrah that needs to go with food that fits that mold. Appearance is the expected really inky Syrah. The nose is a bowl of the most strongly fragrant berries you have ever smelled. The taste is...big, bold, assertive berry, earthy, touch of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Strong-bodied with a medium fruity and tobacco finish. If I have one complaint about this wine, and it is being picky, the 15.2% alcohol does come across, so it may be just a tad out of balance. But for that, it would be a wine with a 90 rating or better. That said, in the $20 and under range, this is one of the best American Syrahs for the price...it is worthy of comparison to Aussie Syrahs. Barrel 27, we love your wines, please distribute in the Colorado Front Range: Denver-Ft Collins.

Twist and pour ... Drank this over three days and very impressed how much it improved on day two, and even held up on day three, despite lack of preservation (beyond screwing the top back on). Big, bold and fruit forward, with some finesse that came out on day two and gives me hope this will hold up to at least short-term (3-5 years) cellaring. This wildly over-delivers for its price point. Super QPR. Think I need more.
