  • Ok. Now we’re talking. This wine has finally entered the very beginning of its drinking window.

Two and a half hours after opening in a Zalto Burgundy glass. It remains a vibrant and deep hue of purple, a thin watery meniscus, no bricking at all.

Smells like blueberries, cardamom and dried grass. It enters the mouth dry and austere, revealing a rich palate of blueberries, plum skins and black pepper.

The tannins are just about fully resolved and the acid, while restrained, is persistent from beginning to end. The finish now lingers pleasantly with spice and dried fruit notes.

It is like this wine has transformed, shed its previously coarse skin and is just now starting to reveal its true character.

Drink now and hold for further development. Given past experience with back vintages this could easily go another decade.

  • In a much more approachable place at this time. Tannins are integrating yet there remains a little bite to go with the moderate acid. Dark completed fruits that stop short of being too ripe, a little cigar box wood and spice note.
As others have mentioned, the finish is shorter in duration than expected. It is good, and quite drinkable, if just a little disjointed at the moment.

  • Tannins fully resolved. Fresh, smoky blackcurrant pastilles on the nose. Great perfume really wafting out of the glass. Not very very long, but decent complexity, quite light on the palate / only medium bodied. SO refreshing and delicious. At home with or without food, served cellar cool. I don't recall ever enjoying a <£13 wine more. Drink now - absolutely a point. 17

  • The two notes below are apt for us. Deep, dark, earthy; very enjoyable over three days.

  • Originally too young and punchy on day one, should've read my own earlier note before opening this one. By the the time the last third of the bottle has gone four days under cork, the wine is coming together nicely. The rich dark fruits entwined with garrigue and herbal notes finally seamless with a solid core of acidity to carry the rich juice along. Hold for a year or two... Really this time.
