Beautiful grace to this, nicely intense and earthy. Some VA on the nose but in a good way. The quality of the fruit is just so pretty and earthy. Smooth and elegant, throughly enjoyable.

The nose at the start was a bit concerning and throughout showed some age but wow, on the palate this wine really rocked! Tremendous complexity, density, sappy almost primary fruit with a flat out delicious mouth feel make me astounded that this was simply or only a village wine. I wish Georges himself were still alive to ask him about this, it was so good.

Sadly this bottle became stirred up, and wow is there a lot of sediment here! However, while it was going, it was lovely - same high toned fruit, slightly thin and attenuated and yet nicely sharp fruit. The amazing thing about these older Mugneret-Gibourgs is the texture of the wine is so nice - silky and oily, wonderful!

Who says 1972 is an iffy vintage? This wine has been beautifully and consistently delicious. Great complexity, smooth mature power.
