Dolcetta doesn't get much better than this. Thirty minutes later and the flavors are still vibrant in my mouth. There is a reason my friends in Milan drink nothing but Dolcetto for lunch or dinner - this is it!

On the nose you get red BERRIES. Very berry. On the palate the tannins are really gentle - raspberries, red cherry, red currant, violet, alcohol. This wine has a surprising tar and smoke grip on the back palate.

The best Dolcetto I've had, and the first to justify the name of the grape - 'little sweet one.' (Approximately.) I'm guessing this is to do with it being unoaked: what you get is a silky, fruity, sweet mouthful with very little tannin; in the glass, lively violet colour; on the nose, strangely reminiscent of a good Beaujolais. Which is an unexpected comparison for me to find myself making, but the more I think about it, quite apt. This isn't a hefty, serious wine - it's pure pleasure. I thought about giving it 89 because it's quite pricey, but in the end found it too enjoyable to deny it the 90.
