  • Decanted for 2 hours before eating with butterflied leg of roasted lamb. I was disappointed with this - I'm told the wine is ready to drink now, but while the colour is deep and the nose is pleasant with the promise of soft berry fruit, the palate is disappointing. For me this tasted too much of sour cherries with high acidity and insufficient balance. The finish is relatively short, which may be a good think. It is drinkable, but at this price I was expecting more. Hard to judge whether this will improve with some more bottle age, but will leave it for a year and see what happens.

  • Certainly dark and concentrated but lacking the lift, freshness and clarity that makes 08 so attractive to me. Hard to point at a speciific issue, but this isn't my style of wine and I don't enjoy my glass.

  • This wine was tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. The bottle was kindly provided by Marshall Banker and was serially tasted over a two-hour period. Opaque purple, this wine shows an immediately expressive nose of black raspberries, earth and smoke. There is additionally a tolerable amount of brett. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity and medium sweet tannins. The flavors mirror the nose and the middle palate is solid. Medium, dry finish. I suspect that this wine will benefit from short-term cellaring. Drink 1/13-12/16.
