Oddly, while I've had an example of this in the past that was over the hill this was fairly youthful and somewhat unevolved. It pours medium ruby with light bricking at the rim. The nose is of dark dried cherries, dry dusty soil, rosemary, and a light kiss of leather. The palate is mouthfilling and puckering with deep rich dark fruit and medium plus acid, a while the tannin is slightly lower than expected, only medium minus. This is an enjoyable and seemingly representative bottle of Brunello, that just wasn't totally giving the mature wine experience tonight.

A beautiful bouquet on the nose. Still has some.primary fruit but also much savory aromas. And harmonious. Not falling odd evolved but perfectly mature. Palate is lively. With good acidity but also still holding its fruit. Lots of sediment - of course - and I got the dregs. So making the finish just a touch more bitter than it should be.

Really very good length. Tannins have retreated. Refreshing acidity. Sour cherry. Still quite a lot of fruit. Reddish brown. More red than brown. Lovely balance. In the drinking window. Perhaps some herbal Italian notes. Basil. Lovely and savoury.
Had with lasagna!!

My last bottle. It didn’t disappoint. Wonderful older bottle of Brunello with the elegance and polish to match its age.

Tired tonight. Still nice, but tired. On the downward slope.
