  • White Jura Blind Tasting (My Home): Shows apple and subtle pear along some salty notes. Surprisingly some oak as well. Round, could show a little more energy on the palate but still quite good. Burgundian with a mountain side aspect.
Surprised when this was revealed as I did not remember the wine showing some oak on my previous bottle. Maybe in an awkward phase.

  • Jurafest 2012, Day 3 (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): Light and intense aromas, but not too much depth. Rich palate, with nice creamy texture... really nice intensity and depth. Good apple meets sour tangerine flavors. Yum. Tart, funky mushrooms and slightly, nearly stewed apple thing noted on the finish. Really nice and long finish, with quite a bit of intensity. I can still feel the full body this has long after swallowing. Yum.

  • Somewhat closed nose at first, with some VA which eventually blows off. Opens up considerably with two or three hours of air, with quite a complex aroma emerging. Lemon, apple, honey, cheese rind, medium level of nutty oxidization, an herbaceous streak like spruce and spearmint, and, surprisingly, coffee. Drinks well, but more austere than suggested by the nose. Good minerality. Huge acidity, which swamps some of the nuances, but quite enjoyable.

  • An interesting wine, with definite geek appeal. Pale yellow. Mineral, lemon thyme and baklava on the nose. Starts out like a chablis with an intense mineral purity and pleasing acid spine, but finishes with green walnuts and the subtle sherry note characteristic of the oxidative style of the region. A fresh, no oak, no/low malo style that definitely works for me, but this is not likely a wine with mass appeal. Grew more enjoyable as it warmed up, and seems to have loads of life in it.

  • Enticing nose: mineral, comte cheese. Fresh crisp pear, apple and lemon. A subtle of walnut. Great acidity, fresh, maybe lacking just a touch in the mid palate but boy it is so enjoyable to drink. I don't think this is a vintage for the long term but who cares?!!
