Good stuff from Carnuntum, a unique region near Vienna. Proximity to lake neusiedl makes for high moisture and hot days. The result is commonly a rounder style of wine with slightly lower acids ( that is relative to other austrian wine). Surprising then that this wine is electric with lots of zesty citrus. What lies at the core is tons of cool mint, tarragon and herbal tea flavors. Reasonably long and very complex, recommended for 12$ or so.

Grape fruit nose with good focus and some impressions of hallmark white pepper. Somewhat reminiscent to Loire style. There is an underlining sense of roundness on the midpalate that sets off mildly racy minerality, making notable contrast. Very solid for this level.

(Weingut Glatzer Grüner Veltliner) Very light yellow color; tart peach, apple nose; very tasty green apple, lime, mineral palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish
(Glatzer Grüner Veltliner) ($16.00) Cool and sleek this year, showing all the top notes of GrüVe, crackery and starched, penetrating and peppery. Got some scrape, this guy. It’s flavory and by NO means underripe, but it’s verging on steely and is quite... precise. Cold-grilled zucchini, marinated cucumber, are the things I thought of.

Austria Uncorked (SLS Hotel, Beverly Hills, CA): Powerful aromatic nose with a dose of minerals. Lean feeling but with nice complexity. Very nice.
