Pristine bottle, level < 1 cm below the cork. Opened four hours in advance. Mature appearance but not bricked through; fresh and fragrant, smoky nose, rosehip, earth, hint of cold tea, forest floor and a sweet nuttiness; elegant and energetic palate, well balanced but on the lighter side, retains some tannic grip; fully mature finish with good resonance and length.

During a Burg dinner. On the lean and acidic side for such a high quality Grand Cru site. Aromas were ok with earth, red fruit, spices. Aroma 94, palate 90.

Perfect level (< 1cm), perfect cork. Very solid Burgundy; impressive mineral depth and energy, mature, sturdy but well-integrated tannins, power and weight rather than precision or complexity; lovely balance and length. A wine of authority and in the style one expects from Prieur.

1998 Burgundy Grand Crus - Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin Singapore, Chapitre de la Printemps (Harbour Grill, Hilton Hotel): This was pretty good. Best of the Chambertin flight actually. Lovely nose. Plenty of depth, with wafts of sous bois, sappy red fruit, wilted flowers, some herbs, spice and whiffs of smoke. Palate was round and juicy, with clean acid running through sappy fruit notes, stewed cherry flavours and mineral and spice inflections. Finish was longish and very fresh, with lingers of orange peel and hints of mint. Again, maybe not the most complex of wines, but I did enjoy this. It should get there with time.
