  • Unterholz, Laub, pikante Gewürze, etwas rohes Fleisch, geräucherter Speck. Sehr, sehr vielschichtig und sehr souverän. Mit etwas Luft perfekte Harmonie und trotzdem präsent. Beeindruckend!

  • Some meaty notes and herbal complexity. Palate was savoury with notes of fresh fruit.
    Great finish.

  • No notes taken. This is the most mature bottle of the 2010 I’ve had so far. Medium expressive on the nose, this was singing on the palate with fine, ripe red berries, some wet earth and still some hints of oak, nicely enhancing the wine and not distracting from the fruit core and minerality. It is medium complex and medium precise but with a fine frame and good freshness. It should evolve further for another decade, adding some tertiary complexity along the way to enhance the experience. This was a very good bottle of this wine but without any exceptionalism. 92/93

Decanting: No extensive decanting needed (an hour wouldn’t hurt).

  • No notes taken. This was quite good. Gantenbein Pinot‘s usually need a few years for the oak to integrate to show all its potential. This 2010 is now drinking very well, revealing all that potential in the form of a high aromatic complexity with bright red berries, some darker fruit, lots of earthy and smoke notes, some wet stone minerality. Still rather full-bodied, this wine should improve further with age, getting that touch of airiness that is still somewhat missing.

Decanting: Not decanted, improved with air. 30-60 minutes in the decanter should be sufficient.

  • What a charmer. Still strong on fruit, vibrant acidity yet silky texture and very elegant burgundy GC mouthfeel. Enjoyed it a lot more than the 2013 I had last year.
