PnP into a decanter. Nose is immediately big with aromas of blk cherry, licorice along with earth, wet leaves, forest. The texture is medium with a high acidity. Flavors of cedar. Finish is tart and long. Drinks well by itself or with Spaghetti and meat sauce. 5,13,14,6=88

Second day. Pumped bottle. Still has that earthy funk on the nose along with other nice cherry fruit. Palate is medium, still flavorful. Has a tart dry finish. 5,12,15,7=89

Day III. Dark color. Not a very nice nose at this point after that usual Cap funk Day I & II. Just a yummy taste. Rich, concentrated. Must have been a real ripe full year. I like this and it is still really balanced. Still some nice tannins, bright rich fruit. Wow QPR

Decanted. This needs some time (a few hours) to open up and show. Dark purple color. No sediment in the bottle. Nose was funky and predominantly earthy upon opening, but after an hour the fruit started to shine through. Black cherry, licorice, cedar, possible cinnamon. Palate is medium to full, smooth, balanced. Dry subtle finish. A very different style of Merlot. More old world, nice, special wine. 5,13,14,6=88

Deep red-purple on the eye. red fruit, roses, and box on the nose. That and subtle drying tannins on the palate leaving a moderately persistent finish
