Blind tasted and hesitated between a Chenin Blanc and a German Riesling. Golden. No petrol notes. Residual sugar adds richness to an otherwise balanced palate dominated by yellow and white fruit. Drink up but delicious now.

Classy Wachau Riesling style with tremendous depth, fine acidty and a sweet botrytis-flavored Riesling fruit, almost like a dry version of Beerenauslese. A style that for me does not always work with food, but it is certainly impressive. Still fresh and complex at 18 years of age. - 92 points

This markedly improved over a bottle I had about 7 years ago. This has unwound a bit and is now more open and accessible. Very big and showy, in typical FX Pichler style, but while there are ripe creamy sensations here, the structure is more than adequate to keep thing in balance. Wonderful minerality, complexity and thrilling length.

Mature wines at Marco's (Milford, CT): Here's a Riesling that goes to eleven. Flamboyant, incredibly ripe, powerful and weighty with a spectrum of fruit ranging from fresh citrus and stone fruits to riper tropical flavours, and layers of mineral, creamy, spicy and smoky accents that keep emerging with more air. This is all about palate staining intensity and flavours that resonate for minutes after each sip, but the balance is also quite remarkable here.

F.X. Pichler Riesling Unendlich full vertical (1998-2017) (Restaurant Waldhorn, Kirchheim, Germany): Glass: Gabriel Standard
Opened about 1h before drinking, not decanted.
Clear, deep golden color with an amber hue. Clean, muted nose. Quite similar to 2006 with the exception of no anise notes. At its full peak. Beautiful to drink now, very good length. 91-92
