  • Jero. Decanted for ~7 hours. While decanting, the nose bursts with florals, cherry and tar and the aroma remains intense hours late with dinner. The palate is gorgeous with so many layers and seamless integration. So impressive.

  • Decanted for ~2 hours and consumed over the next 4 hours ... and the last glass was the best glass. Nose is medium-full and youthfully red fruited, with florals, clay, and notions of tarry earth. Palate consistently picked up weight and concentration over the evening. Nice bright acidity on the mid-palate. Suave but still crunchy tannin. Classic. Needs more time. 2-3 points of upside.

  • HDH auction tasting at Tru; 6/24/2016-6/25/2016 (Chicago, IL): There's an absurd amount of reduction on the nose, but behind that is a pretty nice touch of tart red fruit. The palate though, shows an absurd amount of acidity, and although this is a very lovely, lighter-bodied nebbiolo, Also quite ornery and unhappy, but I think there's definitely some good potential here. I think the pop and pour did not serve this wine well. I'd certainly be interested in revisiting this at another time.
