  • Quite a good wine! The ‘07 was the first vineyard-designated wine off this site, and is stylistically a bit different from the more recent vintages. At age 16, still pitch black but with a supple, velvety texture. The wine has a briary wild-blackcap character, with a nose centered on roasted fruit, rose petals, crème caramel, hints of peppermint. Tart with a tannic bite but it works well, fades into a long saline finish. Fully mature, but no rush to drink them up. Impressive!

  • Yes there are fans of this style and presumably this wine is made in a way to please them. While not as sweetly sticky as some, it’s much too oaky and simple fruity to appeal to those whose palate aligns more to the old world.

  • This was pop and pour was a bit tightly wound initially, but after 2 hours it really opened up nicely. Gotta say this was a pretty great performance for this 13 year old wine. Still had great tannic grip and good balance. Fruit profile was dark and not overly sweet or too “fruity”, which I find myself noticing in many aged Pott wines these days. Very happy and impressed with this. Wish there wasn’t so little of this produced in their first vintage.

  • Aging absolutely beautifully - impeccably balanced and developing additional complexity and tertiary flavors. Now with a wonderful caramel note on the finish in addition to herbs, cinnamon, cloves, and wet leaves. Should go out another 5-10 years and look forward to drinking my one last bottle in about that time. Wonderful wine

  • Pop and pour. This was great out of the gate. Lovely nose of red and black fruit and a hint of vanilla oak spice. Nice dusty earth note on the nose too. Palate was elegant with a nice grip. Acidity still keeping things in check. Great wine.

Drank this along side the 2007 Pott Arsenal (same vineyard and winemaker). The Arsenal was good, too, but more dark fruited character and a bit more sumptuous in a fruity sort of way. Still a good wine, but I preferred the Greer.
