  • Medium garnet. On the nose the wine has medium + intensity of rose, dried herbs, smoke, toast, sandalwood, vanilla, red cherry, smoke, flint. On the palate the wine is dry with medium + acidity, high grippy tannins, high alcohol medium + body. The flavor intensity is medium + with dried herbs, smoke, toast, sandalwood, vanilla, sour red cherry, smoke, flint. The finish was medium and dominated by tannins. After a few hours the fruit dissipated and we were left with overwhelming oak notes. The wine is good, but probably past peak, and will not improve further in the bottle.

  • Somewhat perfumed nose showing iron, menthol, fig and wood. The palate is supported by a lovely structure of acid. Loads of tannin still. Dark purple fruits and rocks. Good richness still. The fruit is still a bit fleshy adding to the impression from feel that this could and maybe should age more. The expression of the fruit doesn't give me that sort of hope though. I drank this over two nights and found it more compelling on night one. That's not to say this showed more advanced on night two but just a bit less interesting. Of course there is not much risk letting this go longer. All that tannin and fruit are going to let this live for quite some time. Good stuff. Liking the classic winemaking I'm seeing from this house. Solid values too. Quite enjoyed.

  • Decanted an hour before serving. Very aromatic, medium bodied, not as "big" as expected. Plenty of life though, enjoyed over a few hours

  • No formal notes as consumed at a dinner with friends. I recall that the color was deep red in the glass and there was little sign of age at 14 years old. It took about an hour in the decanter to reveal itself. The nose was a mixture of summer meadows and red fruits. Body was quite full with medium acidity, generous fruits and still quite firm, youthful tannins. In the middle was cherry. There was a medium long, enjoyable finish. Overall, very satisfying and highly drinkable now. However, this could probably keep well for 8-10 years.
