Les Grands Jours - lunches and dinners between tastings; 3/18/2012-3/22/2012 (Burgundy): Tasted blind. Meaty, dense and powerful both aromatically and on the palate. Combination of red and black cherry with modest spice and the most faint floral hints. Still very young with less mature development than I'd have expected when I found out it was from 1999. Hold to at least 2015.

This is starting to show some maturity on the nose and palate. Sweet and unctious, but perhaps not terribly complex. Robust, touch rustic but this is a nice wine.

Color deep ruby with some signs of age. Nose intitially muted but opened up with time expressing nice fruit, spice and earth. Similar on the palate. Still with good tannins and life left, but drinking nicely now. Shared with Serge and Elsie.

Good amount of black fruit, loads of tannins, and will still be good for a long time. Not a lot of evolution, but tasty.
