  • A big wine for the alcohol content. A lot going on but predominately the mid-palate is raisin-like - not in an unappealing way, just not my thing. Oddly, I’ve had bargain Spanish wines with similar flavor profiles. I wouldn’t call it a fun wine to drink without a roast or a dish that measures up to the large profile. Generally I’ve been disappointed with the 2007 and 2010 CDP’s. I’m like 1 out of 6 positive on 2010 with the Bosquet des Papes Cuvee Chante Le Merle being one of the best wines I’ve tasted.

  • Still opaque at age 12 and I mean opaque- deep purple. Very impressive for a CDP of this age.

The aromas are pronounced and quite possibly still maturing at what is an advanced age for many CDPs (but maybe not so much with 2010). Lots of black and blueberry liqueur, cut flowers (violet?) damp earth and charcuteries.

The wine is full bodied with intense flavor concentration and a long, savory and delicious finish.

The color intensity, freshness and and structure suggest another decade plus of drinking and this may even be conservative. In revisiting many 2010's over the last few months it seems clear that this vintage, for many cuvees, was built to last....

  • Mike has no debt: A 3 hour decant. This wine is very dense in a fruit-forward way. It wasn't rustic like some CDP's are, more clean and fruity, with nice earth and blackberry liqueur. The anise builds a bit with time without overpowering.

  • Virtually Wines That Don't Suck (online): Poured into jars about 3pm for transport and into glass at 7pm. Drank a glass over 2 hours single blind. A proper decant would have probably helped this wine, although it did not improve over the 2 hours in glass.
Once again the blue fruit made me think this was a cabernet. In hindsight, the spice, tannins, massive fruit and alcohol should have convinced me that this is a 100RP CDP. The group consensus is that this wine is probably in a dumb phase right now, and it will likely blossom into something more impressive. However, I am becoming increasingly convinced that I should stay away from CDP's that are 100RP.

  • How this wine was rated RP100 Baffles me.
