This was far better than I remember it being a year ago. Lovely charm to it, went well with dinner and enjoyed by all. Likely found the right time to drink it.

Classy mature Cornas in a good place. Dusty, earthy and slightly grainy. The fruit is still alive, savoury and mineral. Resolved tannins provide a long and tasty finish. It's good, but it's hard to see it getting any better. dg-

Top 100 Farewell Dinner 2014 (Rodwell House): (Tasted Blind): Medium red colour with aromas of black olive and mint chocolate notes, reminiscent of South Africa. A rich, sweet entry full of fruit seems consistent, whilst there is a smoky element as well. However, the wine has a fresh, mineral-edged vivid acidity with salinity and savouriness that pushes toward Cornas, somewhat aged. In a more modern version, there is some power and complexity to make for a lovely wine but it lacks the gravitas of a top Cornas; there is little depth, and the body is too light for this AC. Seems a touch easy-going.

Ruby with bricking around the edges. Raspberry and red currant nose, cherries, even some cassis, slightly phenolic, peppery, but more fruity. On palate, some cedar, phenolic from bouquet still there, earthy notes, not really the fruit which the bouquet promised, but some sweetness and a charming (if not spectacular) mouthful all the same. Medium body and finish.
