  • I have kept this in the cellar more or less for fun, just to see how Merlot-based wine from Tuscany is able to age. And it has kept surprisngly well, although the wine clearly should have been drunk around ten years ago to find it at it's peak. Deep amber in color with a black core. Quite heavy nose not really reminiscent of Merlot, more dominated by tobacco, black cherries-jam, lots of dry earth and wood, and a somewhat bitter cherry core taint. Full bodied attack with some jammy fruit up front. Then the wine quickly dries up, and the finish is dominated by tobacco, dry wood and some warm earth tones. The aftertaste is quite fruitless. Still very fun to drink, and it is fascinating how an international grape like Merlot grown in Tuscany really becomes a Tuscan wine.

  • Very much alive. Reminded me of an old bordeaux. But I think this has seen better days..probably on decline.

  • Immer noch eine Granate. Braucht zu Beginn etwas Luft um seine Aromen zu entwickeln, dann aber schöne Balance am Gaumen und langer Abgang.

  • Not as good as a bottle I had in Dec, '05. A bit overoaked for the depth of fruit. Nice mineral, black cherry, and tea leaves in the mouth. Fairly drying finish. Passed its best.
