The initial swirls show nice viscosity. A powerful bouquet of red fruit, thyme, mint and snow pea leap from the glass. This holds plenty of interest, as the nose does not indicate the impact that the palate will ultimately present. That is: Blackberry, blackcurrant, cedar and some cool climate leafiness. Underpinned by fresh acids and a tannin profile that while firm, is not excessive. This has the structure and body for extended cellaring. Very young at present, but will have many years ahead of it, before reaching the peak of development. A rare find is Cabernet Franc with as much depth and stucture as this one. Very impressive.

Peter Bourne's Right Bank - Merlot and Cab Franc lead the way (Sydney): Colour Clear, ruby, medium intensity, legs Nose Medium minus intensity, clean developing slight jam, spice, vanilla, ethanol heat and camphor! Mouth Medium plus flavour intensity, medium body, medium minus tannin, medium acid, medium alcohol, short to medium finish, slightly metallic, disappointing and dull
