It is three years since I last opened this and it has evolved nicely. It still has some primary dark fruited flavous but clearly open for business and a joy to drink. It is a Volnay more towards the rustic rather than the elegant side.

Red-orange ageing. Silky. The nose starts creamy pinot but shifts quicly to earthy and then fades to not much at all. The palate is sharp and sweet. There is some fruit but its short. Overall there is too much sweet oak and not enough fruit. But it did improve when cooled to say 13 deg - but disappointing.

Nice - classic burgundy flavours with red fruit and earthy notes with a little tart finish that may round further out over time. Good structure towards the rustic side.

NOSE: expressive; ripe; hint of black licorice; purple-berried; somewhat muddled.
BODY: hazy ruby color of medium depth; medium bodied.
TASTE: ripe, roasted fruit flavors; hint of horsiness and maybe a slight green (or mineral?) streak; medium-fine tannin; 13.5% alc. not noticeable; I prefer this to the 2007 Lignier – Morey Saint Denis. Overpriced at a bit more than $60. Gut impression score: mid to high 80’s.
