Community Tasting Notes (20) Avg Score: 89.2 points

  • 84: Another few years (beyond the recommended drinking window even) did not harm this wine, but it didn't improve it either. Almost all points here are for presentation: The color is a fantastic clear ruby, it swirls with great legs, and the aroma is appropriately fruity with a hint of earthiness. This should be a 92-94 point wine. But no. This wine is just completely lacking in the flavor department. Straight out of the bottle was barely distinguishable as wine; aeration brought out enough notes of berry with spiciness that it at least tasted like wine. No complexity. Whatever subtleties I detected a few years back have mellowed into oblivion. In some ways, this wine is an amazing accomplishment: It took real skill (however misguided) to so perfectly balance three different varietals that none of their usual characteristics remain. Unfortunately, while this is a very beautiful wine to pour and observe, it is disappointingly forgettable once you actually taste it. You might as well drink whatever stock you have on hand as further aging is unlikely to improve.

  • 88: This could have been a 90+ wine but it's missing the complexity that such a score deserves. This isn't to say that this Grenache blend isn't complex, just that it's complexity is subtle and hard to truly appreciate. That being said, it was very drinkable right out of the bottle as well as a day later. Pleasant but unremarkable aroma. Beautiful medium ruby color. A subtle earthiness that supports the standard red and purple fruits (currants and plums in particular). Time to drink!

  • Either not ready or just isn't right for my tastes; I don't know which.

  • A Medium Intensity on the nose licorice and red fruit on the palate soft tannins, med+ body, with hints of alcohol, with soft fruit

Conc: Tastyy and easy to drink, the grenache is proably just hitting its peak and I would drink now
