"Grand Cru". Fair pressure under the mostly shrunken cork, yet the nose is young: toast and what I can only call lanolin. Mid gold. Lactic, even with air; a touch of salinity and spice, but the nose is relatively subdued. Soft taste of honey, peach, and apple; not quite the vintage/grand cru intensity I'd like, but it's still nice, and okay value, especially given its age. Two days later, still fizzy, with an extraordinary strong smell of lager; tastes well integrated still, with a nice sweetness. [Cork + cage; 12.5% abv; The Champagne Company, £52].

Nose with malic cellar, honey, caramel, mushrooms, wet leafs, smoke and a touch of oxide/sherry. Palate is very mature, touch of hay, honey sweetness, a bit short and thin perhaps, with fine and piercing acidity in the end. Ready to finish any remaining bottles, since there is not enough fruit left to carry this to any next level. (89 – 90)

Fin balans men kanske lite kort i slutet.
