Secondary characters dominate with gunsmoke, nutmeg, white pepper and slate leading the way. Grapefruit and lemon linger underneath, not faded but they are the harmony not the melody here. "Savoury" not a word I see used often for whites, but I think is apt here. Acid line still strong, this isn't falling over anytime soon. Finishes a touch hot, would probably have been better if the 14% abv was a touch lower. Possibly the best Chardonnay of my life was the 2000 Bindi Quartz drunk in 2021. I'm confident this wine will live to that age (benefit of screwcap), hopefully I enjoy it to the same extent.

Decanted for about an hour. Still looking youthful and fresh with light colour and plenty of acidity. There's lemon citrus with some struck match and oak spice. Good now but I think it's still improving.

Pale straw color. Citrus smoke nose. Very lean and structured on the palate yielding very little. Fruit Tightly wound and wrapped in acid. Waiting yo 'blossom'. Not particularly enjoyable compared to the more approachable 2011 Bindi composition. Needs another 2-3 years and then try again.

Screwcap. Youthful clear lemon-yellow with a slightly green hue.
Coiled up power on nose. Peach, melon, lemon concentrate, pyrotechnics, grapefruit and nougat. Some mandarin in the background with spicy oak.
Great power and depth on the palate but not at all heavy. A firm acid line aids the impression of a lithe palate. Tight.
Opinion: Excellent, complex, wine. Drink or hold.
