Mike G and Berto visit Cleveland (Italian wines)+ (Willoughby, Ohio): This was pop and decant for sediment and then poured. Michael's wife Lori was celebrating and this was a birth year wine he had purchased from Chambers IIRC. Great showing. Light ruby/brown in color. Nice tart cherries on the nose with some burnt sugar and spice. Very much alive on the palate. Cherries and dried cherries and other dried fruit, maybe figs. Also a persistent minerality. Nice balance too. Its always an honor and a pleasure to drink a wine that has aged this finely. Very pretty showing. We were there for at least an hour after this opened and this never fell apart either.

Decanted 10 hours. Ruby with peachy edge. Pretty nose of fresh flowers, old leather, and bramble. The palate is very light but full-flavored, blackberry, creosote, a little raw beef. The finish is medium-long, and features a smokey tartness. This wine is very much alive, overall much on the light side for Barolo, but one might very well say 'elegant' at this stage.

Red fruit (cherry), dominant, hi-toned floral elements (rose), slight spice, lingering floral on the finish. Really enjoyable although probably beginning its downward slope. Slight tannins & acidity.

Some coffee, a hint of caramelization and sweet spices onthe nose the palate is acidic with some fig and iron notes. Very interesting.

Very similar to the previous bottle, and another demonstration of the need for air, the last glass was even better on day two.
