  • Still alive and well albeit with less fruit forward tastes. Cellared for 20 years. While not the optimal age, still an interesting example of the nice effect of cellar years on wine. Less brightness than years ago, but still great with spice, earth, some acid and less powerful fruit.

  • What a pleasant surprise. This is such a beautifully balanced wine. Fruit, acidity, tannins, earth -- all in wonderful equipoise. Sometimes this seems like a beautiful claret, sometimes a beautiful Tuscan, sometimes a beautiful Veneto. This is terrific stuff and is drinking beautifully now.

  • Drank with Linda, Terry, and Susan at Enteca Sogno. My concerns about this being over the hill were definitely proven wrong! This wine was wonderful and at it's peak drinking window! The layers of fruit and spice unfolded beautifully as the wine opened up in the glass. Anyone out there ever tasted a 20 year old Valpolicella? LOL! Sadly this is my last bottle but will move on to the 1995 vintage for a test drive this weekend!

  • Terrific Valpolicella. Intense nose. Full-bodied, and smooth, ripe cherry and plum aromas, plus an entire bazar of oriental spices. Has great power and a long finish. Now at its peak. Drink through 2014. Impressive. Bravo!
