This has aged beautifully. Drinking very much like a Pomerol with some attractive primary and secondary characteristics. It doesn't reach the top heights of a great Pomerol from a great vintage as it still has some harshness of tannins and structure. It can still age for a while and would love to see how much it integrates further. But this is proof that the Dal Forno Valpolicella really needs bottle age to integrate and is not meant to be an early-drinking wine.

Thought this was a Las Cases from the greenness on nose and palate. Incredibly rich and seductive wine on the palate without being monolithic, the dark fruit was supple and layered. Would never have guessed a Valpolicella, this was very much a Bordeaux for me. The Confuron was undoubtedly a better wine but this was such a surprise that I was more intrigued by this.

Dal Forno Valpolicella Vertical (Nemogaarden): Very impressive wine! Compact and sweet fruit with a solid amount of vanilla. The wine is balanced with an intense acidity and harsh tannins. Still feels like a young wine! Lovely flavor depth and overall just an amazing wine!

Enjoyed sipping to this from opening to 1,5 hours decant. Like a beast is breaking out of the chains of history. Insignificant to begin with, then a lot of acidity, suddenly a lot of tobacco and leather, then subtile again, before it revealed itself as a bomb of fruit and layers of complex tastes. Obviously mature, blackcurrant, ripe cherry, spice, herbs and the mentioned tobacco and leather. This wine almost has it all. Great consentration, and I just LOVE that it's still vibrant and alive. Probably past it's peak, but still lots of life. Drink now.
