Pretty nose that felt a lot lighter than the other Gouges wines in comparison. Cherries, strawberries, and less of the spice note on the nose. Good acidity with firm structure, more cherries, berries, and forest floor on the palate. Nice finish. This needs quite a bit more time but it's a promising wine. Much more backwards than the 2009 but not as much as the 2012. This should be much better in 10+ years. 92-93+

March 2024 Gouges/Chevillon Dinner (YH Beijing - SF): Quite a lovely nose with a hint of sous bois and floral notes. Vibrant dark red fruit with bright acidity and approachable, though still somewhat, firm tannins, with a warm, spicy finish.

Terrific nose, complex and beguiling, with chalky earth, berries, tea and spice. Palate is still a bit backwards, but with a much more refined profile than the 99. Earth and 5-spice, tea and black fruits, good acidity and chalky tannins framed by a touch of wood. Starts a bit muted, but picks up steam over 3 hours. For me, the best Gouges of the night.

A mix of dark and red fruit, soil, spices with a nice salinity. Since the last months it developed well, but is still pretty tight. Very good density and length.
