Light brick with orange edges. Soft nose of shoe leather and wet dirt. Some sweet red cherry remaining. Nose reads somewhat madarized but palate is in tact. Tertiary, wet fall leaves but with some leathery cherry fruit. Metallic on the finish. Cinnamon. Major funk / farm. A little decrepit but clinging to life. Not for the faint of heart: completely enjoyable but this bottle was in the final phases.

Saturday Tasting Group (Knightsbridge Wine Shop (Northbrook, IL)): Extra pungent notes of forest floor and wet dog. Nice shrooms and Indian spice as well. Rich well extracted palate. Excellent length on the tongue with extremely Old World dirtyness. Really really enjoyed this bottling. Old car tire on the nose as well. Tires that have had many years on an old dirt road.

Such a delight. Still holding up well. Smoky, leathery, earthy with some dried red fruits, sour cherry and autumn leaves. Good sense of place.

Black tea and earth. Well resolved, some firm tannin left. Masculine style. Ready to drink. Enjoyable.
