Served double blind. This was in a Mugnier vs Roumier flight, but was a ringer. I thought it was definitely Roumier, as it had so much structure, and and am not surprised this was Barthod. All the structure of the Roumier, but without the charm. Par for the course that for a vintage that's generally as open and charming right now as 2010 the Barthod is the one that's so structured that I assumed it was super young. I call these moon base wines - my nephew will enjoy one of these at the Paulee on the moon in 2080.

elegant and typical for a very good 2010. A lot of acidity and still waiting to unfold all its qualities. Already lovely and displaying depth and quality.

Miscellaneous Wines from a France Trip-Burgundy, Alsace, and Paris; 4/20/2017-4/29/2017: Deep ruby almost to the edge. Spectacular cut flowers and red fruit right out of the bottle. Medium to light weight with just wonderful texture. More red berries than cherries, perfect, mouth-tingling acidity, a touch of menthol, light soil, and fine grained tannins. This also added a squirt of orange zest as it went. No crime to drink this beauty now-the essence of Chambolle. Not as powerful as the Roumier last night, but more than makes up for it with delicacy and finesse.

Very primary, but extremely promising to begin with. Wonderful depth and a fleshy mouthfeel. This has a great balance and a formidable structure with a style to really match my tastes. Can't wait to try this wine at full maturity.

Burgundy 2010 Tasting - Justerini & Brooks, London (London): Big, teeth-drying tannins and a structure that sucks the moisture out of your mouth. Medium bodied with quite a depth of fruit. Tough work right now and needs time.
