  Better after about four hours of air. Very pretty red fruit, some floral notes, and underlying foresty aromas. The fruit is nice and airy and while not especially concentrated shows nice mid-palate sap. The issue here is that the tannins are a touch rough and drying and bitter and I don't think there's enough material here that it will ever age out of that. I don't really see this improving much. Drink with hearty food to balance the tannins.

  28-50 Barthod offline in London. Second wine of the flight. Couldn't distinguish this from the 1993 on the nose, but definitely had a bit more power on the palate than it's older cousin. Dirty red fruit and slightly tart, which detracts a wee bit. Better after 20 minutes of air. Would have given it another point had I drunk it in isolation, but when there are prettier wines competing... Anyway, the tannins are sticking around, so this will likely develop further.

  A Few '95 and '96 Burgs: Decanted 1 hour. Medium color showing just a bit of age. Complex and high-toned nose of savory herbs, camphor and some darker bass notes. Firm flavors of dark cherry, red plums and cinnamon are quite vibrant, bright and structured without being hard or unyielding. A wine of power and class that could use a bit more time in cellar but is coming around nicely. Drink 2014-2018.
