Possibly on the young side for me but I decided to crack this open...gave it a gentle decant to get some air into it. The nose is quite savoury and shows bacon fat, brambles, a little earth, touch of farmyard (which I must confess I don't recollect before) - gets more jubey with time. On the palate it's juicy, fleshy, blackberry fruit with a slight red fruit underpin, earth, bacon fat, slightly chalky burr to the mid palate though quite lightweight. Nice and complemented cold roast chook rather well.

Phil's Coravin exploration (Phil's place, Putney, Sydney): From Coravin. Bacon fat, slight herbaceous quality here with a little blackberry over strawberry, sweet spice, that fruit has a jubey quality as well. Medium plus intensity acidity, fruit proves a tiny bit sour on the palate, alcohol warmth on the finish, a bit skinnier than I remember this...

Impromptu supper at my place (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Lovely, fleshy, jubey red cherry fruit, structured tannic burr as well lends weight. Slips down exceedingly easily with duck breast and puy lentils. Yum.

Burgundy Tasting at K&L Wines (K&L Wines San Francisco): tasted at K&L nose: a bit of welcome animal funk, this had a barnyard funk to it that was not off-putting, but reminded me of cellars in Beaune palate:tart cranberry, with very faint tannin. In the end, it wasn't terribly interesting, but I enjoyed it.
