Dinner Wines and a Teutonic Tasting; 5/7/2015-5/10/2015 (Various): Light medium red color. 2oz pour over 15 minutes. Nose has strawberry, subtle smoke, dry spice and briar. The palate is light bodied, dry, briary, red fruit, strawberry, cedar dust, white pepper. This was better than the last tasting and continued to improve.

Chehalem Mountains AVA Tasting and After Party Wines (Sunfish Cellars, St. Paul, MN): light red color. Tasting pour over 15 minutes. This had been slow-o'd for 28 hours. Nose shows fruit first, cherry, wood spice. The palate is rather acidic, red fruits, cherry, some red berry, very light bodied, medium finish. This was good, rather subtle and understated, which can be just fine; but it lacked some complexity and interest to the flavors.

Pretty fun juxtaposition on Cali Pinot, and even on most Oregon pinot. Seemingly dull, but then you realize it isn't dull, it is full of really natural life, just different than you've tasted before. I don't love pinot, and I thought this was totally fun. Hands-off style, and good for them.

disappointing. I get what they are doing but this isn't a good example of doing this. Unenjoyable.
