  • Benefits from a bit of slow ox, not to soften but to fluff it up a little. This is right in the window. It's not going to go deep and make a miraculous transformation.

  • textbook palatable hearty Pommard. A hair simple but not one dimensional. Might be peaking? Could just be the bottle I opened. Doesn't drink like it's going to transform deep into the aging curve. I'll be finishing my remaining half case in the next 3-5 years (in ideal storage)

  • Really unspectacular, but a learned experience for me. Will follow next three or four nights. Not much on the nose or palette. Alcohol there is and light viscosity. Just opened, so might get better. Note of fresh hay.
*Finishing bottle 4th night open. Has opened up a lot and is a pleasant village wine. Some aromatics are volatilizing and an easy drink.

  • Clearly lots of effort put into the winemaking process, judicious oak can still be felt. Underlying material is "just okay" (high quality village level, which is what this is...), making this an extremely pleasurable, good but not great wine entering its sunset years. Some tertiary definitely present. Still drinking well, but probably not for much longer.

  • Can the most remarkable quality of a wine be that nothing is remarkable about it? Well, this wine proves that such a thing is possible. Nothing in this wine sticks out like the ostentation of the nouveau riche. Rather everything is in harmony and in understated elegance like that of royalty. Dark berries, rose petals, some wood on the nose. Medium bodied, medium finish. Very well integrated tannins that make this wine supple but not supplicant. I have enjoyed the elegance of this wine. At sub $55 it is not cheap, but certainly a decent buy from Burgundy. Highly recommended. WA 90 pt rating was spot on.
