brvino Wine Tasting #5 - Rosé (brvino Undergraduate Wine Club at UCLA): Much more interesting on the nose with white pepper, strawberry jam, lavender, and toast (maybe cheese?). Cherry shows again and maybe watermelon, too. There is a lot of energy and juiciness on the nose. On the palate, it’s fun and exciting. Grapefruit, honey, and even a little bit of ginger. I like this one. 8-/18

Color is a golden orange. Lovely nose of strawberry, green apple, pear. Fresh and bright. Large bubbles, not super refined. Palate is a bit flat, but a nice mix of strawberry, red fruit, and orchard fruit, decent acidity. Definitely an enjoyable pour.

GRAND TASTING #2: Med coral color. Good, steady bubble stream. For the money, this is great stuff. Fresh, fruity, effervescent. Not complex but easy drinking and a real bargain.

Ordered a glass in a restaurant and it was served in a coup. Pinkish orange color. Solid bead with notes of fresh raspberries and some stoney nuances. Rather fresh. 88 points.

Very nice, if modest, pinot noir-based Crémant d'Alsace. Bubbles are relatively large compared to a quality Champagne or Crémant de Bourgignon, but that's because, according to the Lucien Albrecht website, the wine has spent just a year in the bottle on the secondary fermentation lees. The result is a quality sparkler for the price — certainly one for more everyday drinking than saving for a special occasion.

(NV Lucien Albrecht Brut Rose Cremant d’Alsace Alsace) An enjoyable, everyday sparkling wine that can frequently be found on sale in grocery stores, this wine brings sweet raspberries and strawberry aromas and flavors. The palate is dry, crisp, and light bodied. Note that I’m listing this wine as recommended as I always see it for a sub $20 price. At $23, I would pass. 100% Pinot Noir. 8,000 cases imported.
