This is supposedly the least of the three Onyx that I got at a recent benefit. I still have the 2007 and the 2009. This one is oh, so very tasty, and filled with flavor.

Terra Blanca's top flight wine. Consumed over three days, on the first and third days only.
On the first day this was extremely tight and somewhat sharp. I had previously tasted this vintage at the winery so I knew not to give up on it. Had I not known better, I would have scored it 88-89.
On the third day this came into its own. Lush palate featuring baking spices, ripe fruit, incense, and a mildly annoying pickle barrel meets damp haystack element. Acid is very good and the mouthfeel is quite nice. On the downside, the wine shows only very light somewhat dusty tannins, in other words, precious little grip. This is typical of Terra Blanca wines in general, but other Onyx vintages have shown considerably more grip.
I have another bottle and intend to hold it for a while. An excellent wine, but poor QPR overall.

Tasted on 4/19/2012. Lots of dark fruit, cocoa, chocolate covered cherries, dried fruit, and some saddle leather on the nose. Black fruits, plum, and earth on the pallette. Nice long finish. Needs some bottle time to fully develop but delicious right now. Should cellar well over the next 10 years. Decant for at least an hour if you drink now.

Showing very nicely now. Very good on the pnp, even better with air. In an early to middle drinking window. Well done. 91-92.

Washington reds tasted at the Wine Bloggers Conference; 8/17/2012-8/25/2012 (Portland, OR): Notes of cracked pepper and cassis with leathery tobacco depth. Added blue fruit notes on the palate with nice silky tea. Firm round tannin and a full finish. Very nice.
