Mesmerizing, luminous, stained glass, not quite maroon color that just draws you in. Quite floral and aromatic -- roses, lavender and peach blossom on the nose. A wine that may be swirled, chewed and slurped unveiling a sequence of nuance, complexity and conundrum. On the finish, the spice jumps up front and assaults the nose. This is a wine that lifts into the nasal passages and is less grounded in earthy notes. Sufficient tannins to suggest another decade of aging. Why did I only buy one bottle?

This and the Fourneaux have been the class of the '10 Bize Savigny lineup for me, although I have not had the Vergelesses yet. This is as streamlined and seamless as the Fourneaux but maybe has slightly fuller and sweeter fruit, the result being that it's pretty much smoothed out the structure and is not showing all that much of what's here beyond the fruit. Still it's a pleasure to drink just on account of its pure, fresh fruit and classy texture.

PNP into Riedel Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Pale ruby to the eyes.
Rich liqueur like red cherries and dates. Leafy and herbal spices.
Very good structure still and still quite a lot of tannins herez
93-94 points.

A perfectly mature and lovely Bourgogne. Aromas of red berries, spices, and some oak. Extremely smooth, elegant and classy for a Savigny.
