Retail $45. Under cork. 100% Sauvignon Blanc. There are not many Sauvignon Blancs that one would want to hold for over a decade, but this is one of them. I picked up two bottles of this wine over a decade ago on a drive from Paris down to the South of France. We passed the tasting room and I did an immediate u-turn once I realized. Glad I did. The first cork we popped over three years ago and it was stellar, but this bottle might even be better: bright citrus fruit, intense aromas and flavors (really nice acacia on the nose, pineapple on the palate), a complexity that I don't think I have witnessed in a Sauvignon Blanc (certainly not outside of Sancerre), and a finish that lasts for a solid couple of minutes (at least). Whoa worthy for sure, and more.
I bought a couple of bottles of this wine as I was passing through the town and we had stopped at the roadside tasting room. I was enamored with this wine way back in 2012 when we bought a couple of bottles. This was our first foray. Whoa. Just slightly golden in the glass with lemon, white peach, guava (maybe), and a tab of butter. The palate is just short of magical with incredible balance, subtle fruit, weight, and a lingering finish. Whoa. This is Sauvignon Blanc at its best. thedrunkencyclist.com

This light yellow/gold wine is impressively layered and complex. Aromas and flavors of rose petals, citrus peel, wet stones and melon are framed with crisp acidity and seamless alcohol (listed as 12.5%). The flavors build in the middle and the finish shows impressive length. Although certainly not the case for most versions of Sauvignon Blanc, de Ladoucette has yet again produced one which has benefited from time in the bottle. Drink now-2016.

Drank at Aruba restaurant (Screaming Eagle). Nose of green apples and citrus. Medium bodied, pleasant, but not overbearing acidity level. Copious amounts of apples, tangerines & citrusy elements, smooth mouthfeel. Overall a bigger than the norm, but very enjoyable Loire wine that went very well with our fish.

Good color, a bit advanced. The nose shows sour citrus, with hints of mineral and honey. This is light bodied on the palate, with very good concentration and good finesse. However, this feels decidedly tired. The short finish features a bit of unbalanced acidity.
