I found this at $29 - at that price I think it's a very nice pinot. I think of MacPhail pinots as darker, spicier, earthier and more substantial than many of the sonoma pinots in this price range which have more of a light strawberry/cherry tartness. This was pretty much on point, a little lighter bodied than some of the best MacPhails but real nice fruit/spice/acid balance. A life changer, no, but I've paid more for worse.

At this young age, it is quite austere. There is earth and a rustic quality, but it doesn't deliver much enjoyment. Served at a tasting with the winemaker, so I assume it breathed sufficiently, but I really don't know.

Gregarious and autumnal, would be great on the Thanksgiving table.

World Of Pinot Noir Grand Tasting- 3/2; 3/2/2013-3/4/2013 (Shell Beach, CA): Notes of brown spice, smoke, earth, cherry and rhubarb throughout. Rich, round and opulent with lingering sweet spice on the finish.
