  • Lots of structure, smoked meat, juniper, smoke, a tiny bit of dark fruit, more smoke. No change on second day. There is no obvious defect, just an underperforming wine. Hoping for more luck with my remaining bottles.

  • As the name would suggest (the dwelling place of a hermit / monk), Hermitage is a tiny appellation. However the wine is not reclusive at all! Though still benefitting from two hours of slow ox, it unrolls from the glass with an elegant and fine bouquet of olives and herbs, followed by succulent cherries and a hint of wood on the palate.

I love its cooling, ethereal sensation and smoothness. For the sentimental wine fans, this is a wine for recalling those delicate, delicious memories of our climate as it once used to grace our vines, not to be continued any time soon. For the rest of us, it is a gentle reminder to rediscover the soft side of self.

  • This still needs a few years to truly express all the great flavours this has. Dark red, slight nose of fruit/flowers, flavours of leather, dark fruit, chocolate. The tannins are evident as slight oak notes on the back of the palate and give this wine a sense of dryness the month. This does open up with a few hours of decanting but not enought for me to open another bottle for at least 5 years. Needs patience!!! A beautiful Syrah.

  • Disappointed. Did not live up to critic reviews.
Dark purple, grainy on the palate, good structure but lacked any fruit or depth.

  • My first of 3 bottles. Opened for 3 hours. Color is deep opaque garnet red/purple. On the nose: Cassis , plum, violets, pepper, blood and just a hint of vanilla. On the palate: Cassis, violets, massive pepper, blackberries , blood and a bit of dark chocolate. Flavors are long and very broad. Fabulous mouthfeel. World class wine
