  • My oldest vintage to date. If you'll allow a truly ethereal experience. Partially for the reason that I wasn't sure of long term provenance. Found at friends standing but cork was in excellent shape crumbled in extracting of course. Decanted wine revealing a bright to cherry red no bricking passing the first test and just a bit of funk forest upon open. First taste revealing forest floor bit of raisin and nice finish. Let it open about 30-45 minutes tasting along the way. A little short on fruit more raisiny currant flavors and revealing a bit of sous bois, cedar, and mushroom. Probably would have bumped to 90-91 if there had been a bit more fruit left. But overall this wine truly gave me hope that secondary market wines even if not "properly stored" can still provide an ENJOYABLE old wine experience. Sorry to drag on but felt this old lady deserved the time.
