Decanted about 1 hr. Had a sediment worth decanting, of course. A nice fully mature Bordeaux. A nice dark berry aroma. Totally integrated tannins. Probably getting no better, but a nice accompaniment to a grilled steak.

Christmas in July (Ben and Estella's place, Parramatta): Farmyard, blackberry, earth, wet stone, leather, slight cream and, with time, a little iron/blood on the nose. in the mouth it's juicy and savoury with plenty of black fruit, silky tannins and still breadth and leathery notes to the finish. nice.

Phil's Birthday tasting (Phil's place, Putney, Sydney): From Coravin. Blackberry, sweet plum, still that primary fruit backed by sweet spice, leather. Juicy, slightly oxidative notes on the palate, blackberry fruit, slightly course tannins are still present but very much in the background. Nice.

From Coravin. Earth, a little ripe plum, slight leather, quite polished though, pretty, a little toast and biscuit, sweet spice. On the palate it's juicy, savoury, talc textured tannins, ripe plummy fruit, a little leather. Hmm. it's a little disjointed on the palate. Good decant will probably help.

Bright lively colour, now transparent garnet with a maturing brick rim. A gentle wine, no great depth or extraction but very appealing classic St Emilion. This bottle from a perfect case stored in a traditional cellar since purchase. Fine tannins and a pretty, gentle finish, the acidity is bright and keeps everything fresh.
