Nice aromas of dark berry, spice and a bit of funk. Medium bodied with nice evolution in the glass. Smooth entry onto the palate with lovely red fruit and hints of spice. Great QPR on this bottle.

Salmon and Cellar Thinning at Dan's House (Bellevue, Washington): Tasted single-blind (abbreviated notes) - Black cherry, earth, spice. Didn't notice the typical Oregon forest floor this time. Decent acidity, very good finish. Overall great balance and very tasty. Couldn't peg this as Oregon. 91+

Pop and pour and followed for several hours. Black cherry, earth, forest shrubs, red cherry, cocoa powder, a hint of maple syrup, and a hint of strawberry shortcake (a real one). Black and red cherry, earth, herbs, spice, and some vanilla on the finish. Decent acidity and good finish. At first, I was a bit concerned about the alcohol on this wine, but some air took away the concern. Overall, this is a great bottle of Whistling Dog. I'm going to need to retaste the 2007 and 2008 to see if this is better than those years.

Willamette Valley - Tasted at winery: No clusters. Elegant, dark bouquet. Earth, dark fruit flavors. Well balanced. Another 1-2 years in cellar will benefit this wine. (Doris #2 of the 3 2009's tasted)
