Surprised by quality of this wine. Not expected. Fresh, crisp and fruity but not flabby. Nice nose of blueberries and cherries. Great QPR at $15. (Doris: yes)

A bigger wine than the 2008. Medium body. Flavors of mineral, earth, dark fruits, spicy. Balanced tannins and drinking well now. But with another year or two should be wonderful.

Medium body. Soft tannins, but needs time (up to 3 years?) to integrate. Flavors of cherries, spices.

Medium body, well integrated, soft tannins, drinking very well right now. Another year in cellar will only improve this wine. Cherries, strawberries, and a little heat on finish. This should resolve with some more aging.

Great taste of sweet berries, beautiful. But lack of acid makes this flabby.

Pinot Spritz! Definite Pinot Noir with rich, fresh berry flavors, a little sweetness a la cassis, and over-the-top spritz. A fun wine for an afternoon delight.

Plums, earth, mushrooms. Fruity, forward berry and cherry flavors. Fresh, balanced and structured. Can age a little more for tannins to resolve. A classic style Oregon Pinot Noir.
Post a Comment / Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Report Issue
The 2009 is a big wine. Full flavors and deep. A little out of the norm for Oregon Pinot Noir, but a decent wine anyway. Bright, forward cherries and berry flavors. Tannins still big, and some heat on the finish. Needs a couple years to resolve and integrate into a really nice wine.
Post a Comment / Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Report Issue
Light nose, light body and light flavors. Leather, cloves and cherries. A bit of heat on the finish, light tannins. Might improve with another year or two but too many other options out there for me to find out.

Fruity, cherries, floral, well balanced and integrated. Silky. Seems like a winner. Another year or two should allow this wine to shine.

Medium bodied. Lighter on the palate than other Archery Summit 2009's I tasted. Mouth filling tannins. Needs a couple more years before trying again. This should increase to 90+ with age.

Nose - earthy, dark berries, graphite. On the palate, earthy, silky, graphite, floral and big tannins. A great Burgundian style wine. Just needs a couple more years in the bottle before enjoying again.

Dark red color. Nose of dark fruit, graphite, leather, minerals. More body than the 2009 Arcus, and more pronounced graphite. A very nice wine, but very young. Give it at least two more years in the bottle.

acidic, overly tannic. Not sure if more time will improve this?
Post a Comment / Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Report Issue
Medium body. Earthy, dark fruits and cherries on the palate. Spicy and a bit of cloves. Still very young, lots of tannins, heat on the finish. Needs a couple more years cellar and will probably improve to 90+.

Quiotee is the owner's son's name. Interesting choice. The wine was really nice. Earthy nose, bright cherries. On the palate, forest floor, dark fruits (cherries abound), light tannins. Well integrated and balanced. Finesse and complex. Drinking great now. A Pinot Noir to love.
Post a Comment / Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Report Issue
What struck me about this wine was its earthiness, forest floor attributes. Very Burgundian and delicious. Soft, silky, elegant. Dark berries on the palate, earthy, mushrooms, spices. With more time this will improve even more.

Younger vines, planted in 2001. Fruity, dark cherries, full tannins, grassy undertones. Nose was bright, fresh cherries, a bit of oak. the "Guillen" designation is for the winemaker, Jesus Guillen. With a couple more years cellar, this should mature wonderfully.

This wine was very tannic, apparently could use at least another year in cellar. Nose of dark red fruits and terroirs. Flavors of beef, gamey smokey, dark cherries and spices. This is one of Mark Vlosak's favorite styles. (Doris: tannins resolving. Will age 6-8 years)

Dark purple color. Nose of cloves, spices, dark berries. On the palate woodsy, berries, mouth-filling tannins, spices. Reminiscent of a good Australian Shiraz.
Post a Comment / Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Report Issue
This was not the best of the lot we tasted at Cristom, but still a very well made Pinot Noir. 20% new oak. 20% whole clusters brings a bit of woodsy taste to the wine. The nose was of candy and cherries, not overdone. On the palate, flavors of red cherries, cloves, cinnamon and earth. Mouth filling tannins and almost fully integrated. Another year, or two, will let these wines develop into something special.

Nicely balanced nose expressing dark berries and red cherries. Flavors of earth and oak expressed themselves on the palate, along with dark berries and cherries. Big tannins and enjoyable. Give this wine another year or two in the cellar and it should add a couple of points.

Tasted with Ellen Brittan at Carlton Tasting Room. Minerals and oak appear under the deep red fruit. Silky, spicy. Luscious, feminine mouth feel. Long finish, spicy. this is a really nice, exceptional wine to be enjoyed after another two years in the cellar even though it is drinking nicely right now. (The Basalt vines are on the South and East facing slopes while the Gestalt vines are on the West facing slope.)
Post a Comment / Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Report Issue
Nose - rich, deep fruit, earth. Bottled Fall 2010. Mouth filling tannins. This is a "big, soft wine" and one which I consider a "femininally masculine wine". It is big yet refined. Rich and silky, deep flavors of berries and cherries, mouth-filling tannins and a bit of spice and forest flavors. Long finish. (Doris - Big wine, flavors of cherries). This and the 2009 Gestalt are really exceptional wines. Although drinking nicely right now this wine will improve with a couple more years of cellaring. (The Basalt vines are on the South and East facing slopes while the Gestalt vines are on the West facing slope.)

This wine is from young clones of Pommard and Dijon and was aged in 100% neutral oak for 10 months. It was bottled early. The wine is very light, and without the depth and flavor I would expect from Pinot Noir and Brick House. The nose was light with cherries and a bit of earth. On the palate, light body and tastes of cherries, minerals, floral and earth. Acidity was high, as was tannins. Obviously needs time and this just might have been too early to taste. In any event, not worth the $29 at this point.

Nose of spices, black pepper and dark fruits. The black pepper overwhelmed the fruit on the palate, with spicy undertones and floral accents. The wine was almost an effervescent spritz.

The grapes in the 2008 Aubichon Reserve are 75% purchased and 25% Le Cadeau vineyards. Right now the wine is in a closed phase, highly tannic and needs more time. Flavors of dark berries, onions and caramel. Long, lingering finish. This will be wonderful in another year or two. Hold and enjoy!
